Workshop program

The Centre of Full Employment and Equity will once again be hosting the Methodology, Tools and Techniques workshop for ARCRNSISS. Bill Mitchell and Scott Baum, the joint convenors of the MTT Forum invite all Network members and their students to participate.

Our special guest speaker will be Professor Luc Anselin, Director and Foundation Professor, School of Geographical Sciences, University of Arizona. Luc's research interests include spatial data analysis and geographic information science, with applications in regional economics, environmental economics, real estate economics as well as in epidemiology, criminology and political science.

Dates and Location

The workshop will be held at the Novacastrian on the beach in Newcastle East from Thursday, June 5 to Friday, June 6, 2008.

The conference dinner will be at Surtaj Indian restaurant in Hunter Street (Downtown) Newcastle.

A final program will be available in early June once we have accepted abstracts and sessions are finalised.

The format will be broadly:

  • Two plenary addresses from Professor Luc Anselin.
  • Contributed papers from Network members.
  • Special postgraduate presentations.
  • Poster sessions where appropriate.

The Call for Papers is now open and will close on COB May 9, 2008. Complete details are now available.

Please read the submission guide before you submit your paper.

Other key points

  • The Network will fund members' travel and accommodation and that of postgraduate students of members, as well as researchers and postgraduate students from full member institutions.
  • Postgraduates are particularly encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to make a short presentation of their work.
  • There are only 40 fully-funded places available so please express your interest early. Places are filling fast - posted March 27
