The Centre of Full Employment and Equity is a participating member of the recently formed ARC Research Network in Spatially
Integrated Social Science (ARCRNSISS).
CofFEE Director Bill Mitchell is a member of the management committee of the Network and will convene (with Dr. Scott Baum, UQ) the Methodologies, Tools and Techniques paradigm forum on behalf of the Network members. Regular events will be held to develop the collaborative research arrangements within the Network. See Methodologies, Tools and Techniques Forum Home Page ARCRNSISS has been funded for 5 years from 2004-2009 by the Australian Research Council and builds Australias capacity and capability for innovative, collaborative, cross-disciplinary effort to investigate the impacts of change on the behaviour and well-being of people and the fortunes of places. SISS theories and research tools permit the integration of diverse and complex databases, the generation of new synthetic datasets, the incorporation of spatial concepts into statistical analysis and modelling, powerful visualisation of information, and the building spatial decision support systems, to provide an improved evidence base and better informed decision-making to address the significant challenges facing Australias people and its places.
CofFEE membership of ARCRNSISS reflects its on-going commitment of the importance of spatial analysis to developing an understanding
of the labour underutilisation problems faced by regional labour markets in Australia.
